IN PERSON OR ONLINE.
It’s not always easy to meet up with your trainer and friends for a workout. Whether or not it is a busy schedule or the weather just won’t cooperate, Rachel has designed her program to keep your training schedule consistent.
RACHEL SPECIALIZES IN AN EMERGING SPECIALIZATION CALLED CROSS FUNCTIONAL TRAINING. UNLIKE TRADITIONAL TECHNIQUES, HERS IS BEST TAUGHT VIRTUALLY OR OUTDOORS.
AREAS OF FOCUS :
- CORE STRENGTH AND STABILITY
- CARDIO CONDITIONING
- FUNCTIONAL STRENGTH
- MUSCULAR BALANCE
THE FUTURE OF EXERCISE.
We are in a new world where more people are going online to meet their daily needs. Rachel’s passion is for outdoor training but it is not always convenient to meet outside at a set location, enter hybrid training.
Rachel can meet your fitcrew online or outdoors, that is the nature of hybrid training. Sometimes getting everyone together is difficult. Meeting online is not only convenient but encourages greater training consistency. Everyone meets that can meet and if the time and day is not right for a crew member, we record the session and make it available to them in their account.
These recordings are also intended to be repeated by your fitcrew until your next scheduled training session or as a part of the bigger program. Your fitcrew mates can do the recordings on their own time or if you want to make it fun, we provide you with a zoom room to do the video together. You can also download the video to your phone and meet in-person at a recommended outdoor location to do the workout together.

“Our Mission is to provide a mutually supportive program where small groups of people come together to achieve optimal health and superior fitness.”
Outdoor fitness increases adrenal response causing your body to burn more calories. We provide you with workouts that utilize outdoor features to increase intensity and reduce boredom associated with indoor exercise.

SMALL GROUP TRAINING
FUNCTIONAL EXERCISE. REAL RESULTS.
Rachel specializes in a style of fintess called Cross Function Training. It is the only type of training style that improves upon every other sport or aspect of your life. But the opposite is not true. Cross Functional Training will improve your yoga practice but yoga will not prepare you for cross functional training. The same could be said for any sport or exercise that you have done before.
Various Kinetic Chains engage during complex movements when agonist muscles act as a system of chain links, where force generated by one link is transferred successively to the next link. There are 5 primary kinetic chains; the anterior, posterior, intrinsic, lateral and deep longitudinal. Training kinetic chains as opposed to isolating muscles produces greater functional power.
PLANES OF MOTION
We move in space laterally, forwards, backwards and rotationally. These movements are performed in 3 planes of motion; sagittal, frontal and transverse. If you train utilizing all of these planes of motion it will dramatically improve how your body moves in day-to-day life.
Cross Functional Training concentrates on engaging the five primary kinetic chains. This is accomplished by using multi-planar and multi-joint exercises that move through all the planes of motion. This ensures increased caloric expenditure through greater energy output due to significant primary and synergist muscle recruitment. In laymens terms: you get the greatest bang for the buck for every minute of exercise and you become stronger in daily life skills.
Once a month we like to give out a fit mission to the fitcrews. These will be a series of activities to complete within the month. For example, it might consist of a group workout in a local park, a popular hike and a local walk. Fit Missions are intended to get you out to new places or exrcise in a way you may have never imagined before.
We want your fitcrew to stay on track. When you GO PRO we sign periodic objectives, which are goal posts that everyone in your crew trains to reach. It could be losing a collective 20lbs in a month, increasing the number of training days in your schedule and maintaining it or maintaining a healthier diet for the month.
THE CREW CLUB
We have created an intimate, online social media site for members of Kelowna Fit. It is designed to give each fitcrew a space to celebrate little victories, motivate each other in a group atmosphere and hold each other accountable to the Fit Missions and Challenges. It also allows rachel to be the mentor to each fitcrew and inject her seeds of motivation and make sure that their is no nutritional or exercise disinformation being disseminated in our crews. We retain the right to be the professionals and won’t allow bad information that can lead to injury or poor nutrtion to be a part of our program.
A challenge is different than a Fit Mission in that it requires you do something in a better time than you’ve done it before, for a greater distance than you’ve ever done or at a greater intensity than you have been able to perform at. A challenge might be completing a workout at a more intense interval, hiking to the top of Knox Mountain at a faster pace than you’ve done before or completing a race distance that you have never run before.
We record our livestream private group sessions and they are automatically added to everyone in your fitcrews account. Your FIT PRO Rachel will recommend the number of times you should perform the workout before your next virtual session based on the personalized program design of your fitcrew. The recordings are the cross functional portion of your fitcrews training and are what improve all the other areas of your fitness.
